************************************************************************** * The procedure of reprogramming the MODEM card. * * Flash version : 4.3 * * Version : A date:871013 * ************************************************************************** This document would be used as a description of the process of reprogramming(upgrading) the DM560 PC Card by using other programs compressed in this package. Procedure: 1. Extract the 560_201.EXE to a directory in your HD. There should be five files as below: flash.exe flashldr.hex ver201.hex readme.txt 56kinf.zip 2. Extract the 56KINF.ZIP to another temporary directory as your new driver source directory. There should be four files as below: pc_card.inf modem.inf readme.txt mdmen.exe 3. Double click the icon of flash.exe. 4. There is a window showing message as " Choose File to Download " ,then you can choose ver201.hex as your target file. 5. Now it may have two types of message, depending on the previous firmware inside your PC card.We would suggest you to follow no.1 or no.2 procedure according to which message you see. >no.1 MESSAGE : FOUND ROM Resident Flash Loader Do you wish to use it ? --> click " NO ". ARE YOU SURE ? This will Erase the Entire Flash --> click " YES ". >no.2 MESSAGE : VER201.HEX may NOT be compatible with ... Do You wish to use it ? --> click "YES". FOUND ROM Resident Flash Loader Do you want to use it ? --> click " NO ". ARE YOU SURE ? This will Erase the Entire Flash --> click " YES ". 6. If all of above are confirmed ,there would be a " running " bar showing the programming procedure in the " Flash Loader Ver:4.3 " window. 7. Finally, a small message box," All Done ", displays " Flash Programming Completed ". 8. Plug out the card from your computer or repower-on your computer. 9. Remove the original INF files embedded in your directory,c:\winodws\ inf(or c:\windows\inf\other in the OSR2). Remove the original modem type(e.g.,PCMCIA 56Kbps FAX+Modem) in the MODEM icon of the CONTROL PANEL. 10. If your OS is Win95/OSR2, you should repower-on your computer. 11. Plug your PC Card into the PCMCIA slot and install it. 12. Execute HyperTerminal of WIN95 and key-in AT-COMMAND "AT&F&WZ" into the PC card.If the response is "OK",you have finished the process then. 13. You can check if the new version of F/W is correct or not by checking the MODEM properity in the MODEM icon of CONTROL PANEL. If the response shows " ATI1 " with a result code, 231A ,it is the correct one. Notes: 1. The flash.exe is only for Win95 and Win95/OSR2,and not guranteed for simulatenously use as using other programs in the OS. 2. We strongly suggest that user should clean the original INF file in the OS, otherwise some errors would happen,as you use HyperTerminal. For example, if you have plugged your PC Card into your computer, but it can't find any modem when you use HyperTerminal as your communication program. The INF file might be a mismatch one, the only thing you could do is to entirely clean the existed MODEM (including the INF file) and reinstall it by using a correct INF file again. 3. If you don't know which INF file is the original one, you could check which file includes a string as " PCMCIA 56Kbps FAX+Modem ", that's it. 4. You could use the diagnostic function in the MODEM icon of the CONTROL PANEL to check the result code of " ATI1 " and " ATI3 ".
