D-Link DFE-530TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter Installation for IBM Lan Server 4.x/3.x/2.x and Comm. Manager 1.x Getting Started ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ The following is how to install Lan Server and Comm. Manager. Due to Lan Server 4.x popularity it's documentation appears first. Install the NDIS driver for IBM LAN SERVER 4.0 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ In the OS/2 Desktop group, double-click on the MPTS icon. Click on the button. Select the "LAN adapters and protocols" option. Click on the button. Select the "Other adapters ..." option. Insert the driver diskette and type the driver path (A:\\): ex. A:\NDIS2\OS2 Click on the button. Select "D-Link DFE-530TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter", and then click on the Add button. Select "IBM OS/2 NETBIOS", and then click on the Add button. Select "IBM IEEE 802.2", and then click on the Add button. Click OK. Click Close. Click Exit. Reboot your system. Select "IEEE 802.2", and then click on the Add button. Click OK. Click Exit. Click Continue. Reboot your system. Your CONFIG.SYS and PROTOCOL.INI files should reflect your card setup: \CONFIG.SYS =========== : Device=d:\IBMCOM\MACS\DLKFET.OS2 : \IBMCOM\PROTOCOL.INI ==================== : [DLKFETI_NIF] Drivername = DLKFET$ Install the LAN Server or Requester program. For information, please refer to your IBM LAN Server "Planning and Installation" manual. Install the NDIS driver for IBM LAN SERVER 2.0 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ Assuming that OS/2 2.0 is correctly installed and working properly, install the LAN SERVER. At this point, no network adapters must be installed in the computer. Install LAN SERVER according to the IBM installation procedure. When prompted for the adapter, select any of the adapters LAN SERVER supports. For example, "Western Digital EtherCard PLUS ...". Then, continue with the LAN SERVER installation. After successfully installing LAN SERVER, shut down OS/2 for system configuration. Do not install any network adapters yet. The OS/2 system will boot up and bring up the LAN SERVER services. The system will then display error messages since the network adapter you selected is not installed. Ignore these messages and continue with the OS/2 booting procedure. Insert the driver diskette in Drive A and copy the following files: COPY A:\\DLKFET.OS2 to C:\IBMCOM\MACS COPY A:\\DLKFETI.NIF to C:\IBMCOM\MACS\DLKFETI.NIF A:\\ Where PATH is the driver directory. ex. = NDIS2\OS2 In the OS/2 Desktop group, run the OS/2 system editor. You need to modify the following files: C:\CONFIG.SYS C:\IBMCOM\PROTOCOL.INI CONFIG.SYS Modifications: DEVICE=C:\IBMCOM\MACS\MACWD.OS2 to DEVICE=C:\IBMCOM\MACS\DLKFET.OS2 PROTOCOL.INI Modifications: - Under the [IBMLXCFG] section, add the following line: DLKFETI_nif = DLKFETI.nif - Under the [NETBEUI_nif] section, change the following line: Bindings = MACWDMC_nif to Bindings = DLKFETI_nif - Under the MAC SECTION definitions, add the following section: [DLKFETI_nif] DriverName = DLKFET$ After modifying the two files above, shut down OS/2, and turn the computer off. Install the DLKFET. Turn on the system to start OS/2. After starting OS/2, LAN SERVER services can now successfully start without causing any errors. Install the NDIS driver for IBM Communication Manager 1.0 ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ Install IBM Communication Manager Copy the DLKFET.OS2 and DLKFETI.NIF files in the driver diskette to your C:\IBMCOM\MACS directory. COPY A:\\DLKFET.OS2 to C:\IBMCOM\MACS COPY A:\\DLKFETI.NIF to C:\IBMCOM\MACS\DLKFETI.NIF A:\\ Where PATH is the driver directory. ex. = NDIS2\OS2 Select the D-Link DFE-530TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter and choose the appropriate protocols. Check that the CONFIG.SYS file includes the following line: DEVICE = C:\IBMCOM\MACS\DLKFET.OS2 Shut down your OS/2 system, and then reboot your PC.
